Our choir was formed in 2011 to enable those with a love for singing to come together to sing and enjoy friendship and to raise money for charity. To date we are proud to say we have raised over £28,000.00.
We are a community choir who now sing in 4 parts. We sing regularly to a variety of audiences in all sorts of venues across Lancashire – some in competitions but mostly for the enjoyment and fun of the whole experience of singing together anywhere people might invite us. It could be public buildings, churches, community halls or schools.
All our music is put together by our musical director Susan Phillips. Susan is a very experienced conductor and pianist and was trained at the Royal College of Music in Manchester. Her knowledge and guidance keeps us all on track and brings great confidence to the choir. Supporting Susan and the choir is our pianist and accompanist Simon Rogers. Simon is a qualified music teacher and trained to play the piano at Birmingham Conservatoire Simon is also in a band which is great for us for when do popular songs when we need to raise the beat!
We are flexible in the choice of music. There is some restriction when we are taking part in competitions, but most of what we perform is requested by the audience. We are very adaptable to delivering a variety of music from all spectrums. At the start of this year we introduced a new theme - Old Time Music Hall which has been a huge success. Next year our theme will be The Wild West so it will be stetsons, neckerchiefs and buckskins.
We are always looking for new members, so if you enjoy singing and would like to join us please contact us or come along to any of our rehearsals which take place on a Sunday afternoon you will be given a warm welcome along with a cup of tea and a biscuit.
